I Wanna Destroy the Passerby (Sid Vicious)

Somewhere in the late Eighties to early Nineties, I was thrust into the skateboarding culture for a few years. Basically; I was up to no good, running around at all hours of the night in the wrong part of town and probably with the wrong crowd. It was here that I was introduced to the Punk Rock scene and bands such as the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys and The Exploited (to name a few). This aggressive style of music was more about attitude than sound and provided the perfect soundtrack for an equally aggressive group of teens with nothing better to do than loiter till the wee hours of the morning. Sid Vicious seemed to become the poster boy for this genre of music and lifestyle. Sid’s brief and chaotic time in the limelight culminated in a destructive codependent drug addiction with his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, whom he allegedly stabbed to death in the famed Hotel Chelsea in Manhattan.
