Herald at their intial release in 2001 as a break from the past and a new direction of horology, the wristwatches of Richard Mille were from their very inception, extraordinary and uncompromising.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF THE RICHARD MILLE LADIES’ WATCH RM 007
CALIBER RM 007: automatic movement with unique patented rotor system containing 18-carat goldmicro-balls bearings. Functions: hours, minutes, date.
Dimensions: length 45 mm x 31 mm x 10.9 mm
MAIN FEATURES
(MANY OF WHICH ARE MAJOR TECHNICAL INNOVATIONS)
BI-DIRECTIONAL AUTOMATIC WINDING
The rotor is fitted with an auto-reverse system integrated into the rotor ball bearing. This patented system is the result of a technical, high performance solution. The main characteristics are the minimal amount of space it occupies and the narrow dead reverse angle of only 7° when the rotor changes direction.
18-CARAT GOLD ROTOR WITH MICRO-BALL COMPARTMENT
• 18-carat gold, satin-finished and hand polished surfaces with hand anglage
• Rotor segment in 18-carat sandblasted gold with weight comprising more than 100 18-carat gold micro-balls within a transparent, PVD coated container.
• Sapphire crystal, with anti-glare treatment on both sides
• Grade 5 titanium screws
• 18-carat gold micro-balls
This exclusive RICHARD MILLE innovation allows efficient rewinding of the mainspring by the optimalinertial force created. The free moving micro-balls in 18-carat gold found inside the compartment serve to absorb excess energy in case of shocks. In this way large shockwaves that normally could have devastating effects on the rotor are therefore reduced and this safeguards the system’s mechanism.
DATE DISPLAY
Vertical date aperture at 6 o’clock, with sapphire crystal calendar disc treated with anti-glare coatingon both sides.
GRADE 5 TITANIUM SPLINE SCREWS
This permits better control of the torque applied to the screws during assembly. These screws aretherefore unaffected by physical manipulation during assembly or disassembly and age well.
NEW GEAR TEETH PROFILE
The central involute profile of the teeth promotes effective rotary motion and allows thecompensation of possible variations in the engagement of the going train. This insures excellent orque transmission with a distinct improvement in performance.
WATCHCASE
The design and execution of the watch demonstrate a complete conceptual approach to the movement, case and dial. As a result, everything has been constructed according to an extremely rigorous specification, in the manner of the data processing used in the design of Formula 1 racing cars where the chassis and the engine are developed in complete harmony. For example, a casing ring is no longer used and the movement is mounted on chassis mounting rubbers (ISO SW) fixed by 4 titanium screws. Features such as these are evidence of uncompromising workmanship. The tripartite case is water resistant to 50 meters, ensured by three Nitril O-ring seals with tube driven in and glued. Assembly with spline screws (12) in grade 5 titanium and abrasion resistant washers in copper-nickelzinc alloy.
