Rain Smatters the Historic Flatiron Building: Hors d' commerce

Ira Block

“While walking home from dinner one rainy evening I was mesmerized by the juxtaposition of the brightly lit clock on Fifth Avenue with the stormy look of the Flatiron Building. I always have a camera with me and took the photo in the driving rain storm”

The Flatiron building is located on the 175th avenue in Manhattan in New York City. Upon completion, it was one of the tallest structures in NYC and one of New York’s most celebrated skyscrapers. Its elegant design and narrow wedge shape has intrigued New Yorkers for over a century. The Flatiron has been the subject of many paintings, photos, postcards and films, making it an iconic symbol of New York.
