Orangutan in the Rain: Signed and Numbered

Andrew Suryono

I was taking photos of orangutans at a zoo in Bali, Indonesia, when it started to rain. Just before I put my camera away, I saw this orangutan take a taro leaf and put it on top on her head to protect herself from the rain! I immediately used my DSLR and telephoto lens to preserve this spontaneous magic moment. Having a similarity of 97% in DNA sequence with humans, it's no wonder an orangutan can exhibit such a behavior. Ironically, now Orangutans are facing extinction as a species because humans keep destroying tropical rain forest, Orangutans' natural habitat.
