Iconic Power, Botswana, 2013: Signed and Numbered

Beverly Joubert

This male embodies sheer strength and power as he leaps over a water channel on Duba Island. Okavango lions are used to getting their feet wet in the swamps and can swim well, but it doesn’t mean that they won’t avoid getting wet if they possibly can.

Botswana’s Okavango Delta region is an area of floodplains that comprises one of the world’s only entirely inland delta systems. These lush landscapes attract astonishing numbers of wildlife, including some of Africa’s largest elephant and buffalo herds. Some of the continent’s most endangered species can also be spotted roaming the floodplains, including black and white rhinoceroses and African wild dogs.”

LOCATION: Duba Plains, Okavango Delta, Botswana

MEDIUM: Chromogenic Print
