DISCRETION AND VALOUR, BOTSWANA, 2005
Beverly Joubert
“To witness an animal death is extreme. It’s hard not to feel the agony that these animals go through on a daily basis to survive.. What helps me is to represent that emotion into our art form: photography. Only by being able to depict the emotion we are feeling will we be able to influence anybody else. The images became part of a conservation campaign. We formed the Big Cats Initiative about six years ago. All the cat and predator images that I have, whether they are used for an exhibition, a talk, the magazine or digital media, are for the purpose of conservation.”
