You would be hard pressed to find a biography of The Doors that I haven’t read or a documentary I haven’t seen. To say I am a Doors fan would be an understatement. For this reason I have painted Jim probably more than any other figure in all my years as an artist. The advances that The Doors made in stage theatrics are still seen in all the live shows we see today and for this reason, their popularity and Jim’s cult-like following haven’t waned. Although their time in the limelight was short, The Doors went through numerous changes and phases both in appearance and musical style. With Stoned Immaculate I wanted to capture Jim in the bands in early years - when the band was a strange new sensation that shook the moral foundation of a nation.
